About

Hi-

I’m Ed Johnson. I started this web site because the idea of Learning to Learn is so crucial - I am convinced that our entire planet will be better off if we can move - even a little - toward the idea of education as a process, instead of keeping the emphasis on the product. Learning to Learn can be an umbrella concept for extensive personal, social and even political change.

After a decade of being a dairy farmer in Maine, I have been a teacher of one sort or another most of my life. I started as an elementary school teacher in a small coastal Maine community, then became Principal of a wonderful K-5 school in Brunswick, Maine. Subsequent to that, I was Director of a educational change project serving several Maine schools. In the early 70’s, my family and I moved to Tucson, and I became a teacher in a newly developed community college. I taught business and management courses, and was coordinator of the faculty development program on one of the campuses. I also taught for the University of Phoenix, primarily in their MBA program, and conducted many workshops for prospective U of P teachers. I am now retired, although I continue to do some consulting and training

My Bachelor’s degree is in agriculture, and I did a Master’s degree in Animal Husbandry at Penn State, in preparation for the farming career. After I began teaching I completed another Master’s degree, this time in Elementary School Administration. Following the move to Arizona, I finished a Ph.D. degree in education at the University of Arizona.

I have four wonderful children, now all grown, and five grandchildren.

Again, the concept of process education or experiential education or learning to learn is my particular passion. Through this web site, I hope to be able to share some of my thoughts with you, but most important, to learn from your contributions to the forum.
